Classes for 2009
The 2008 Choir Camp is history and what a great time we had
at Lakeview! Along with the TCCC Board we extend warm words of thanks to Alice Coate
for two wonderful camps during her term as Dean of Choir Camp.
The dates for the 2009 Texas Conference Choir Clinic are listed above and I hope you
will be with us in the Piney Woods of East Texas. The Board was faced with a challenge
when the State Legislature established new school dates recently. This past year we
had to settle for the only dates available on the Lakeview calendar which provided
but four days of camping.
The Board has worked with the Lakeview and Texas Conference staffs to
provide for a five-day week in the future. We have entered an agreement
that will place Choir Camp around the week of July 4th each year.
This provides more adequate time for campers and clinicians to spend
together and allows other camping activities to be scheduled in a more
timely fashion. While your Board realizes a weekend allows some campers to
take less vacation time to attend camp, the five-day schedule is more widely popular.
The 2009 dates will allow a week and still enjoy our National Holiday
over the weekend. As the July 4th date moves in coming years, campers
taking vacation may “save” a day and still come to camp. The Board will
do everything possible keep camp registration affordable but, the
additional night’s lodging will cause the fees to return to rates
near those of recent years.
I’m excited about our 2009 Clinicians who are coming to share with
you at Choir Camp. Please locate the “Clinicians” tab in the upper
left of this screen in order to become familiar with them. They will
enhance your singing and ringing skills and bring you well-planned worship
experiences through out the week. There will be an evening of old
(silent) movies with organ accompaniment. A Hymn Festival is being
planned and the always popular Variety Show will be back. We will
return to the beautiful service of Communion on Thursday evening and
end with the traditional Festival Concert on Friday. There will be
other surprises announced for young and old as planning for the 2009
event is finalized.
We are revising our scholarship program and 2009 registration
information will be available the latter part of January. Program
information will be added during the coming months as well. So I urge
you to return to the website often for the latest about the program
offerings, the expanded scholarship program and to print the 2009
registration form.
I look forward to seeing all of you at Lakeview next July and hope you will
plan to bring many of your friends with you to beautiful Lakeview and The
Texas Conference Choir Clinic.
