Greetings from Texas Conference Choir Clinic, and welcome to another wonderful musical and camping experience.  There will be some changes this year, so before you go any further, get out your calendar.

Saturday, July 26 to Tuesday, July 29

Yes, those are the dates for this year’s camp, and if you are counting on your fingers, you’ll realize that camp is one day shorter this year.  Because the beginning and ending dates have been changed for the Texas schools, we had too many conflicts with our regular first week in June.  This is what we were able to work out for this year only.  Next summer we will go back to a 5 day camp, and those new dates will be made available to you.

Even though this is different, I have always believed that change can be very good.  First of all, if you are taking time off from work, you only need to take two days instead of five since we are camping over a weekend.  By this time, choir tours are over, VBS is over, and we aren’t conflicting with other annual conference meetings. Many choirs take the month of July off, and if you are a director or accompanist, you have lots of time to find a sub.   ALSO because our camp is one day shorter this year, we have reduced our registration fees accordingly.   I have challenged our board of directors to make a conscientious effort to bring more choir members to camp this year – especially first time campers, and I am asking youth and children’s choir directors to make camp a part of their summer music program.

I am so very excited about our clinicians and camp staff this year.  Every one of them is a specialist in his/her area.  As I am meeting with each of them individually, I am more convinced than ever that we have an amazing slate of directors, composers, teachers, worship leaders, performers, accompanists, dancers, actors and concert artists.  Whew!  What a line-up!  I know that you will leave camp motivated and excited to start your fall with new ideas and new music.  And as we know from past camps, how inspirational it is to work with clinicians who have written the music that we are singing!

Please note that this year we have SIX scholarships to offer to first time campers.  If you qualify for one, please apply for it.  If you are a returning camper but know a director, an accompanist, or an assistant who is actively involved with the music and worship planning of your church, please encourage them to apply.  The scholarship information and applications are included on this web site.

Registration forms are available now.  Plan to join us in July.
